Sex Education in the Eighties PDF Download

Sex Education in the Eighties PDF By:Lorna Brown Published on 2012-12-06 by Springer Science & Business Media The odd reader (here in England |odd| means occasional) may be interested in how a book comes about. Members of the SIECUS Board of Directors were planning a Festschrift and dinner for Mary Calderone on the occasion of her 75th birthday. One planning idea was to have a booklet, filled with brief essays from prominent sex educators, distributed between the roast beef and the ice cream. My reaction was that such |souvenirs| find their burial place in the same dusty drawer as the program from the high school prom and ticket stubs from South Pacific. I suggested a more lasting, noticeable |monument,| a |proper| (as the English say) book which would draw contributions from both SIECUS and non-SIECUS scholars. 1 was too clever to be trapped as editor (in a 1974 preface, I had written |I swore 1 wouldn't edit another book|). And so I seduced Lorna Brown (into being editor). I ...

Montessori PDF Download

Image
Montessori PDF By:Angeline Stoll Lillard Published on 2017 by Oxford University Press Traditional American schooling is in constant crisis because it is based on two poor models for children's learning: the school as a factory and the child as a blank slate. School reforms repeatedly fail by not penetrating these models. One hundred years ago, Maria Montessori, the first female physician in Italy, devised a very different method of educating children, based on her observations of how they naturally learn. Does Montessori education provide a viable alternative to traditional schooling? Do Dr. Montessori's theories and practices stand up to the scrutiny of modern-day developmental psychology? Can developmental psychology tell us anything about how and why Montessori methods work? In Montessori, the author shows that science has finally caught up with Maria Montessori: Current scientific research provides astounding support for her major insights. She presents the research concern...

Handbook of Children's Rights PDF By:Martin D. Ruck,Michele Peterson-Badali,Michael Freeman Published on 2016-12-08 by Routledge While the notion of young people as individuals worthy or capable of having rights is of relatively recent origin, over the past several decades there has been a substantial increase in both social and political commitment to children’s rights as well as a tendency to grant young people some of the rights that were typically accorded only to adults.
